We love when we are able to help another client launch their Android product. This time it was Stationhead launching their Android App.

Stationhead is a digital radio app that allows anyone to turn their playlists into a personal radio station. This startup was created in 2016, based in Brooklyn, by musician Ryan Star and his childhood friend Jace Kay. It has grown to become a big community of hosts, guests and listeners, live 24/7, and has been covered by Forbes and Billboard. Here's one Stationhead live radio as an example, and a video where creators share why they use it:

Stationhead started as an iOS app, but after many user requests, the need for an Android app became evident and that’s where we joined in. We’ve been working on this project for a year with Sane Digital. It’s our third project working together and it’s always a great experience. The Android app was launched in January and it already surpassed the 10,000 installs.

On the Stationhead Android app you can:

  • Listen to live music and chat radio stations

  • Interact with hosts and join stations as a guest

  • Listen to recorded shows

  • Request new shows of your favourite stations and be notified when they go live

From the technical point of view, this app brought some interesting challenges. We had to match the refined UI and UX the Stationhead team had built on the iOS app over the years, full of animations and a catchy look-and-feel. And under the hood, we had to integrate music streaming and live audio chat, to ensure live radio shows do feel like radio, specially when you're joining in as a guest.

Give the app a try and join some awesome radio shows.
